Happy Pride Month from all of us at Shop HdG! As June arrives and the colors come out along our streets and storefronts, we want to take a moment to celebrate something that makes this town so special: Havre de Grace doesn't just observe Pride for one month a year. We live it all year long.
A Town That Wears Its Colors Proudly
Take a walk through Havre de Grace in June and you'll see it everywhere. Rainbow flags hanging from front porches. Pride banners in shop windows along the waterfront. Progress flags fluttering on Main Street and tucked into the corners of neighborhood gardens. And here's the part we love most: a lot of those flags don't come down when summer ends. They fly in the fall, through the winter, and right back into spring.
That says something about who we are. This is a community that believes everyone deserves to feel at home here, no matter who they are or who they love. Pride Month gives us a reason to say it a little louder, but the welcome is here every single day.

A Pride Celebration Right on the Water
If you want to see that spirit in full color, mark your calendar for the fall. Havre de Grace is proud to host one of the most beloved Pride celebrations in the region: the Upper Chesapeake Bay Pride Festival, organized each year by the Upper Chesapeake Bay Pride Foundation.
Held right at Concord Point Park, with the historic lighthouse and the Chesapeake Bay as a backdrop, it's one of the rare Pride festivals you'll find set directly on the water. The free, family-friendly event brings together more than 100 artists, vendors, and local non-profit organizations, along with live music, drag performances, food, and a whole lot of community.
This year's festival is set for Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at Concord Point Park. It's free to attend, everyone is welcome, and it's one of the best afternoons our town has to offer. Whether you come for the music, the vendors, or just to soak up the energy by the water, it's a celebration worth showing up for.
Pride and Shopping Local Go Hand in Hand
So what does all of this have to do with shopping local? Quite a lot, actually.
The small businesses that line our streets are a big part of why Havre de Grace feels the way it does. They're the ones flying the flags, sponsoring the festival, hiring our neighbors, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome to walk in the door.
